NSPA scholarship
Seniors earning the 2024-25 NSPA Leadership Award in Student Journalism may apply for the Leadership in Student Journalism Scholarship.
Applicants are required to study journalism or communications at a college or university during the 2024-25 school year. Taking collegiate journalism or communications classes meets this qualification. A declared major is not required.
This form must be submitted with special care to include the following requested information:
- Verification of current cumulative grade-point average through the end of the first semester or trimester of the 2024-25 school year. GPA can be reported by a letter from the school guidance counselor, transcript or a screenshot of an academic portal showing this information. NSPA reserves the right to verify the information with your school.
- A letter of recommendation from your adviser.
- An essay outlining your student media experience and future plans.
Deadline: March 3, 2025

Club photos - 1/23
Hey everyone, some information you need here:
Our staff photo that will go into the yearbook will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23 in the courtyard. We are scheduled for 11:50 am. for B-day, that is during our class, but for A-day, you will have to remember to go at that time. There will be a lot of clubs and a lot of people getting out of classes throughout the day. I will send messages on Remind to help you remember.

Why: Who doesn't want to be in the yearbook?
How: Well, how about we all agree to wear something similar - dark pants, white shirt of some sort (Sophia, you have my permission to wear pink!!). No crazy graphics though please. Also, no hats, nothing that screams LOOK AT ME!! And then just show up and smile!!
Hey Seniors - you also have a photo to take. It will be on the same day, at 12:00 noon - right after the staff photo.

What: Yearbook senior ad - this is a half-page in the back just for you guys!!

Why: I want to recognize my special seniors for being awesome, so I arrange for a special ad just for you!!
How: Your group can wear whatever you want. This ad and photo are just for YOU. I am sure Bella will have a plan, so please communicate with her. Unlike the staff photo, you can use props, or whatever you want. I have a bunch of staff photos on the wall, and you can look at them for ideas.

Summer stuff - plan ahead!
I know some of you have expressed interest in doing more journalism during the summer. It is getting close to that season where you should be planning ahead. I will continue to share opportunities with you but I wanted to put up a few things that I know about.
